Foolishness July 24, 2008, Thursday

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. – 1 Corinthians 1:18

I read this verse last night and it made me think.  It explains the struggle with why people don’t understand the bible and the message of salvation that it talks about. Sadly most people in our society really don’t understand what being a Christian means. They think it is crazy that we believe what we do, and live the way we do.  Isn’t it time we start showing them instead of expecting them to change their lives to something they don’t understand and haven’t seen modeled.

Here are some questions that I have been thinking about lately thought I would share.

Why are we so quick to blame God?

Why do we feel the need to question God’s purpose?

How many times will we try on our own and fail before we give it all to God?

Why do we read so many books, hear so many speakers, listen to so many great praise song and still not change our lives when they all point to one GOD?

What happened to black and white, and where did all the grey come from?

Why do we live life as if it will last forever?

When will we realize that God is the only constant in our lives so we must turn to him for help?

When will we quit being recreational christians?

So our youth group just got back from camp this past week, and it was an awesome week.  We had a student accept Christ and the change that took place was amazing.  From the moment he prayed that prayer with me he was a changed person.  I think that in the good’ole USA we have forgotten that Jesus is still into changing lives.  We have gotten to the point where we are numb to his touch.  Well I experienced this change first hand this week and it was  unforgettable.  I saw a student go from cold to on fire, from sad to joyful, from lost to found, from hopeless to hopeful.  I have seen him smile more in the past 5 days than I have in the past 5 months.  This week renewed my spirit and has me excited to see what God is going to do in our town through our youth.
