The Way: Service June 4, 2009, Thursday

And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. Acts 2:44-45
These verses make me the most excited when I read my bible. I can picture what this attitude of giving looked like. Obviously this is an example of community, but I think we can learn so much more from what we read here.
For example, they went beyond just helping everyone and gave to everyone “as they had need”… which tells me that they didn’t give the same to everyone (as we tend to want to do these days) but they gave more to people who had a greater need. This is what service is all about. It’s not about making it fair, it’s about meeting the needs of people no matter how big or small they are. That’s what the Way is all about. It’s a lifestyle that reflects God and you do this by simply living the gospel.
So are you serving people as they have need? If your are currently not serving people, all you have to do is go from seeing the need to acting on what you see.
The Way: Week 2 May 24, 2009, Sunday

Wow! What an amazing time of worship we had this morning. It’s so exciting to be able to come into the presence of a living God and freely worship Him.
Our focus today was on the 1st chapter of Acts and how it gives us a picture into what living as a member of “the Way” looks like. Rmember we defined the Way as: A lifestyle in which we choose to reflect God. We also talked about how there are 3 components of that lifestyle: Prayer, Love, and the Holy Spirit. Here are some of the main points that were present in this mornings lesson.
- Are we truly devoted to prayer?
- Remember that prayer has power (James 5:16)
- Without relationships you cannot have love.
- Do you see people through the lens of love?
- Do you realize the power that the Holy Spirit bring into your life?
- You don’t have to live scared when you are alone… you have power through the Holy Spirit to overcome the world.
- Share the Good NEWS (North East West South). Your life is the center point for sharing the good news.
- Remember that He (Jesus) is returning. (Acts 1:11)
Jesus was here to save, the Holy Spirit is here to convict, we are here to love.
The Way – Week 1 May 18, 2009, Monday

It was such a cool experience yesterday to share the stage with Pastor Paul. I hope you were able to grasp a bit of what we are expecting from this summer series entitled “The Way”.
This is going to be such an exciting series…I can hardly wait until next sunday when we get to study the 1st chapter of the book of Acts, but first more about this morning. I really love looking at the book of Acts as a guide to living by the Spirit. I feel the most important theme from yesterdyays message was the living the “Way” is a choice.
Remember to read through the 1st chapter of Acts in preparation for next weeks message.
