I’m So Blessed March 25, 2009, Wednesday

Everything I read these days talks about seasons of life. Whether you know what season you are in or you are trying to figure out what season you are in it’s clear that there are changing seasons in your life. I wanted to share with you a season that my wife Lindsay is in right now. I mentioned Monday that she has written our curriculum for our Disciple Now weekend. To say that it is a good curriculum would be a huge understatement.
I am truly amazed at what God is doing in her life right now. It has been so cool to see all God has done through her in the last 6 months, and there are no signs of this season ending anytime soon. To be able to see her desire to grow with God and seeing Him reveal Himself to her is awesome. I look forward to seeing what God is doing each day; every time we talk I expect to hear another example of God’s work in her life.
I am so blessed to have her in my life.
What season are you in?
40 Day Revolution January 23, 2009, Friday

This Sunday I have about 10 students starting the 40 Day Revolution. Operation Light force offers the student guide for this. We had a group of students complete this revolution in the fall and had great success. After seeing that success I decided that this was something that we need to be doing year round not just in the fall.
Each student has different objectives to complete each day. These assignments really cause the students to look differently at their faith and actions. They have to rely on each other for support and God for strength. Each student is fasting throughout the 40 days also. This is an impactfull 40 days in each of the student’s life. They are challenged but come away with a feeling of confidence and completion.
The first group of students did run into adversity, but they were able to draw together and rely on God for the strength to overcome. I truly believe that the lessons that they learn during this 40 day period will impact their walk with Christ and the relationships they have with other people for the rest of their lives.
Please be praying for our students who are participating in this 40 day revolution.
Love vs. Hate January 22, 2009, Thursday

I was listening to Erwin McManus a few weeks back and he said something about Love and Hate that stuck with me. He was talking about the relationship between Love and Hate and said,
“Hate is not a more profound emotion than love; it’s just that hate is easier to get to than love.”
This quote really hit me. I immediately thought about those old ketchup commercials that told us “the best things come to those who wait”. I think the best things come to those who work for them. I really believe that love is hard to achieve. I also believe that love in it’s purest state is not obtainable without God’s help. We seek and search high and low only to come up short. When all we need to do is turn to God to give us the ability to love one another as He loves us. One thing we can’t do however is sit back and wait. We have to place ourselves in His hand in order to start seeing each other through the lens of His love. Love is a process, not an achievement!
