Making Them Drink April 6, 2009, Monday

This past weekend we held our annual Disciple Now weekend. While it was an amazing weekend where I got to see God move in our students, it left me with one question. How do we as leaders get people to drink the water? After reading through the comments that our group leaders left regarding the Disciple Now, I started thinking about how our ministry was focused on “leading our students to the water” instead of getting them to “drink the water”.
We have focused on just simply leading them to the water. I say this with the old saying “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink” in mind. I have been leading them to the water and then leaving them to go and bring another to the water to join them. I now realize that I need to focus on making them drink. I think it is possible to get people to drink, we just have to search for the way to do it.
It’s time we stop settling for “leading to the water” and start doing everything we can to get them to “drink the water”!
A Call To Be Real March 15, 2009, Sunday

This morning I had the privilege to preach at my church… I spoke about the fact that people in our society need to be real in all we do especially in church. The following are some of my key points from this morning.
- There is a movement happening in our society pushing people to simply be who they are.
- It’s time we stop trying to fit people into molds and titles and start seeing them for who they are.
- The church needs to stop trying to be all things to all people and just be something to someone.
- God wants us to be real.
- From the moment we step into a church building we step out of realness.
- The only standard we should have is one that draws people to Jesus.
- When Jesus answered what the greatest commandment was He also gave us the “real” recipe.
- To start impacting our world for Christ have to start embodying these commandments.
- The church (the body of Christ) needs to become proactive instead of reactive.
It was so cool to see God move this morning . . . If you can relate to any of these statements let me know what God is doing in your life.
Does God Love Everybody? January 30, 2009, Friday

This is a question that is being kicked around a lot these days. From Ted Haggard’s appearance on Oprah we are left asking ourselves if God loves us regardless of our choices. Does God still love people even if they choose not to have a relationship with Him? I know there are people reading this right now are getting angry just because I ask this question, but know that we (Christians) need to be ready to answer questions like this if we are going to impact our society today.
So what do you think? Does God love everybody regardless?
I’ll post my answer in a comment.
